Questions & answers
How SnapHound works, what's included, and how your photos are handled. Still stuck? Contact us.
Getting started
Is there a free trial?
Yes — 14 days with full access, no credit card required. When the trial ends, your account becomes view-and-export only until you subscribe, so nothing you captured is ever lost.
How do I create an account?
Download the app for iPhone or Android and start a free account — you set up your company's workspace, then invite your crew once you're in. (On iPhone you finish the quick signup on our website, then sign in to the app.)
What devices does SnapHound work on?
iPhone and Android for capturing in the field, plus a web dashboard on a computer to review, organize, and export. Your account syncs across all of them.
How it works
Does it work offline?
Yes — capture photos and video with no signal at all. Everything's saved on your device and uploads automatically the moment you're back online.
How does the auto-naming work?
You build a filename template once, from built-in fields and your own custom ones (like a claim or project number). Every photo and video comes out named to that format on save — no renaming afterward.
How does it know which folder a photo goes in?
SnapHound ties folders to the job location. When you arrive, it suggests the folders you've already made there — and if a photo lands far from where its folder's other photos were taken, it flags it so misfiles don't get buried.
Can I mark up photos?
Yes — draw arrows, shapes, and text on a photo, show the subject and details as text, and stamp the capture date and time. Whatever you turn on burns into the exported file. (Text and timestamps work on video too; drawing is photos only.)
How do tags work?
Add tags as you shoot, then filter a folder by a single tag or stack several at once (match any or all) — or pull up a past year's work by filtering on the year.
Can I build reports?
Upload a report you already use and SnapHound turns it into a reusable template — your cover, sections, and layout. Fill it with the photos you captured and export a finished report. This feature is in beta.
Team & seats
What counts as a seat?
One person on your account. As the owner you set an approved seat count and invite teammates up to it — and you're only billed for seats that are actually filled.
Can I add subcontractors or temporary crew?
Yes — add anyone as a member and they take a seat while they're on. Remove them when the job's done and the seat frees up for someone else.
What are the roles?
Owner, admin, and member. Roles control who can manage the account, folders, and people, so everyone stays in the right lane.
What happens to the photos when someone leaves?
They stay with the company. A team member's captures are company records, so when an admin removes someone, their photos and videos remain in your account.
Billing
Where do I pay?
On the web dashboard — the app itself never charges you. You manage your subscription and storage from a computer, or from the dashboard on your phone.
Can I cancel anytime?
Yes — cancel from the dashboard whenever you like. Your plan stays active through the period you've already paid for, then stops renewing.
Can I switch between monthly and annual?
Yes — email us at contact@snaphoundapp.com and we'll switch your billing interval for you.
How do the volume discounts work?
There's one plan, and the per-seat rate drops automatically as you add seats — at 11 and at 21 seats. See the pricing page for the bands.
What about storage?
Every seat includes 50 GB of pooled cloud storage. Need more? Add 50 GB blocks for $5/month anytime — we never block a capture mid-job. (Deleting photos frees that space after a 30-day recovery window.)
Your data & privacy
Where are my photos stored, and are they secure?
They're backed up in secure cloud storage, kept private to your company's account, and served only over encrypted, expiring links.
Who owns the photos?
You do. They're your company's records — review and export them anytime from the dashboard.
Will the app fill up my phone?
Captures upload to the cloud automatically and don't clutter your camera roll. The app keeps what it needs on the device and backs the rest up off it.
How do I delete my account?
You can delete your account from the app or at snaphoundapp.com/delete-account. A solo account is removed after a 30-day grace period; team members are removed by an admin.
