SnapHound

Home inspection photos, marked up and organized before you leave the house

SnapHound is built for how home inspections actually work. Draw the arrow on the defect as you shoot it, and every photo comes out timestamped, labeled, and grouped by room and system — captured offline in the crawlspace or attic. No matching photos to notes later, no sorting hundreds of shots that night, and your report builds from the photos you just took.

For the inspector who'd rather be writing the report than renaming photos and drawing arrows at 9pm.

Cut out the after-hours photo sorting

Here's the old home-inspection photo workflow — and what SnapHound does instead.

The old way

  • Juggle a camera and notes, then match photos to defects later
  • Try to remember which photo showed which issue back at the desk
  • Sort hundreds of photos into rooms and systems on the computer that night
  • Open an editor to draw arrows on each defect photo, one at a time
  • Rebuild the same report and drop in images one by one for same-day delivery

With SnapHound

  • Arrows, circles, and text drawn on the defect as you take the shot
  • Every photo stamped with the date, time, and what it shows
  • Grouped by room and system as you shoot — tags or subfolders, your call
  • Captured offline in the crawlspace or attic, synced when you're out
  • Your report fills from the photos and exports from the web dashboard

Your report builds from the photos you just took

Upload the report you already use and SnapHound turns it into a reusable template — your cover, your sections, your layout. Drop in the photos you captured, with their markup and descriptions already on them, and export a finished report from the web dashboard. No rebuilding the same document for every house, no copy-pasting images one at a time at midnight. (The report builder is in beta.)

Arrows and callouts, right on the photo

Mark up the defect while you're standing in front of it — draw arrows, circles, and shapes, add a line of text, and the subject and details show right on the image. It's all optional and set per photo: the markup, the timestamp, the subject and details. Turn on what the report needs and leave the rest off — a photo with everything off exports as the clean original. Whatever you turn on burns into the exported file, so the shot explains itself in the report, with no opening every image in an editor back at the office.

Works in the crawlspace and the attic, with no signal

Basements, crawlspaces, attics, vacant houses with the service off — the places you most need a photo are the places your phone drops signal. Capture photos and video completely offline; everything's saved on your device and uploads on its own the moment you're back in range. Nothing lost, nothing to re-shoot.

Organized by room and system as you shoot

Organize the way your report reads. Tag each photo by system or room as you shoot — roof, electrical, plumbing, HVAC, exterior — then filter one folder down to just those, or set up a subfolder for each if you'd rather. Either way, by the time you're back in the truck the photos are grouped the way you'll write them up, not sitting in one long camera roll waiting to be sorted.

A timestamped record you can stand behind

Every capture carries the date and time it was taken, backed up to secure cloud storage and kept private to your company. If a question ever comes up months later about the condition of the house on inspection day, you have the dated, filed photos to show exactly what you saw — not a camera roll you have to go digging through.

Keep reference shots out of the report

Not every photo belongs in the report. Save reference shots — the model number on a furnace, a detail to watch, something to compare on a re-inspection — separately, so they don't get mixed into the photos you export. They stay with the property, ready when you need them, without cluttering what the client sees.

Finish the photos at the house, not at midnight.
